2015 Specialized Hardrock 26

Specialized takes entry level to the next level with the Hardrock 26. Crafted from their A1 Premium aluminum, the frame is light, durable and nimble, while the SR Suntour fork offers up 75mm of bump-busting travel. Its tough aluminum rims are ready for years of commuting and singletrack riding, and the Shimano 21-speed drivetrain makes hills doable. Plus, the Hardrock comes with powerful linear-pull brakes, a suite of low-maintenance Specialized components and a supportive Body Geometry saddle.

      Comments:

I am 35, and bike around the San Fernando Valley streets for fun and fitness on a yard sale bike, and recently decided to hit some dirt. After a TON of research and test rides, THIS IS THE BIKE! I am a beginner at mountain biking, so I am not jumping roots and stumps and riding berms and all that. But this bike performed fantastic on the beginner and intermediate trails I have ridden, and it scaled some hills I was absolutely sure I was going to have to walk. I like it so much, I now use it to commute around the Valley as well. For the price I got it for from the guys in Northridge CA, I could not be happier. Mmmm...fiending for a ride...

        Comments:

Bought this bike to start biking to work and for the occasional off road rip on a single track trail by my house. Works great for both. Mine came with some off road radial tires which are smooth on roads and have decent bite for off road. If you plan on mainly off roading you will probably want more aggressive tires though.
